About a third of human life span is spent in bed. People in need of care, especially in burns and intensive care units, usually spend the whole day in bed. Patients who stay in the intensive care unit for a long time may confronted different risks besides their existing diseases. Being in the bed for a long time can seriously affect the capacity for physical activities, and this effect is exacerbated by the number of days in the hospital. The effect of inactivity is greater in the elderly and in patients with chronic diseases such as congestive heart failure and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). In addition to the detrimental effects of inactivity, intensive care unit patients are also at high risk for the development of neuromuscular disorders. With these effects, the balance function of the inner ear can be impaired and patients may fall from the bed to the floor and be injured. The aim of this study is the design of a combined bed and bed control system that will prevent the patients who are in intensive care and burn treatment unit but also in need of physical therapy from being transported to the physical therapy unit by stretcher, especially for groups whose mobilization is at risk, (cardiology patients (angioplasty, hypertension, peripheral arterial disease), respiratory system diseases (COPD, asthma, etc.))and that will allow them to receive this treatment while in the intensive care unit.
