AN EVALUATION ON SUSTAINABLE TOURISM LITERATURE: THE CONTEXT OF TURKEY

Abstract

Sustainability and sustainable development are problems that have gained much importance at the international level. As well, ensuring the sustainability of the tourism sector, that is a discipline within the field of economics, constitutes an important subject. Sustainable tourism refers to an approach that tries to minimize the costs of the natural environment in which tourism activities occur and the costs of the host society; and also an approach that can be put into practice in a long period when the resources that give life to tourism are not damaged. This is a qualitative study which is a collection of the studies that have been conducted between the years of 2000 and 2015 and these studies are limited to the ones that have been able to be reached by the authors via the Internet. The purpose of the study is to present the collection and then to analyze these studies by help of some evaluations. Thus, it is intended to reveal a profile of the Turkish studies about sustainable tourism by extracting results from these analyses

SÜRDÜRÜLEBİLİR TURİZM LİTERATÜRÜ ÜZERİNE BİR DEĞERLENDİRME: TÜRKİYE BAĞLAMI

Öz

Sürdürülebilirlik ve sürdürülebilir kalkınma, bugün uluslararası düzeyde önem verilen problemleri oluşturmaktadırlar. İktisat bilimi alanına giren bir disiplin olan turizm sektöründe de sürdürülebilirliğin sağlanması, yine önem taşıyan bir konuyu oluşturmaktadır. Sürdürülebilir turizm; turizmin, içinde gerçekleştiği doğal ortam ve ev sahibi toplum açısından maliyetlerinin minimize, yararlarının ise maksimize edildiği; uzun bir dönemde turizme can veren kaynaklara zarar verilmeksizin uygulamaya konulabilecek bir turizm yaklaşımını ifade etmektedir. Bu çalışma, Türkiye’de 2000 ile 2015 yılları arasında “sürdürülebilir turizm” kavramı üzerine gerçekleştirilen çalışmalar içinden ulaşılabilinmiş olanların bir derlemesi özelliğini taşıyan nitel bir çalışmadır. Bu konu üzerinde gerçekleştirilen çalışmalara Internet ortamında erişilmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı, söz konusu derlemeyi gerçekleştirmek ve ardından bir takım değerlendirmelerde bulunarak bu çalışmaları incelemektir. Böylece Türkiye’de sürdürülebilir turizm hakkındaki çalışmaların analizinden elde edilen sonuçlar ile bu çalışmaların bir profilini ortaya koymak hedeflenmektedir
