APPLICATION OF THEORY OF CONSTRAINTS’ 5-STEPS PROCESS OF ON-GOING IMPROVEMENT IN THE PAINT INDUSTRY

Abstract

This research was carried out to investigate the results of the application of 5-steps on-going improvement process one of the elements of Theory of Constraints which is a management system philosophy advocating the view that each company aims to make money has at least one constraint and the performance of the company is determined by this constraint or constraints. 5- steps focusing process which managing the constraint/constraints was applied in the synthetic thinner production process of a production company which operates in the paint industry and then the profitability of the company was evaluated. By following 5-steps process of on-going improvement, capacity constrained resource in the production system was determined. After the identification the capacity constrained resource in the system, optimal product mix was determined and then alternative recommendations were offered for the elimination of the constraint. Changes occurring in the profitability of the company through these recommendations and the profitability in the case that the constraint existing are compared.

KISITLAR TEORİSİ 5 ADIM SÜREKLİ İYİLEŞTİRME SÜRECİNİN BOYA SEKTÖRÜNDE UYGULANMASI

Abstract

Bu araştırma, hedefi para kazanmak olan her işletmenin en az bir kısıtının bulunduğu ve işletmelerin performanslarını bu kısıt veya kısıtların belirlediği görüşünü savunan bir yönetim sistemi felsefesi olan Kısıtlar Teorisinin, bileşenlerinden biri olan 5-adım sürekli iyileştirme sürecinin uygulamasıyla elde edilecek sonuçların incelenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Kısıt/kısıtların yönetiminin yapıldığı beş adım sürekli iyileştirme süreci boya sektöründe faaliyet gösteren bir üretim işletmesinin sentetik tiner üretim sürecinde uygulanmış ve işletmenin karlılık durumu değerlendirilmiştir. Beş adım sürekli iyileştirme süreci takip edilerek üretim sistemindeki kapasite kısıtlı kaynak belirlenmiş, kapasite kısıtlı kaynak belirlendikten sonra kısıtlı ortamda optimal ürün karması belirlenmiş ve kısıtın ortadan kaldırılması için alternatif öneriler sunulmuştur. Bu önerilerle işletme karlılığında meydana gelen değişimler, kısıtın olduğu durumdaki karlılıkla karşılaştırılmıştır.
