Financial behaviors of individual investors and determinants of financial behaviors have always been in the center of behavioral finance. This study examines the financial behavioral tendencies of individual investors and the factors affecting these tendencies. A questionnaire was applied to 409 individuals working in service and manufacturing sectors in İzmir and İstanbul. Research hypotheses were tested using Chi-square test. Findings showed that individual investors have excessive trust, anchorage, framing, avoidance of uncertainty and preference of known, avoidance of loss, avoidance of regret and misapplication, all of which were extensively discussed in behavioral finance literature. According to this result, it can be asserted that the individual investors make investment decisions under the influence of psychological, emotional and cognitive factors.
