Abstract

There are few studies about umblical cord anomalies in literature. We investigated of 300 placenta and umblical cord samples retrospectively sent to our laboratory between 2000-2002. We observed single umblical artery in two ofthe samples, supernumerary umblical vessel in oneofthe samples and false knots in five of the samples. It's reported that congenital anomalies are more frequently observed in fetuses with single umblical artery and with supernumerary umblical vessel. We analyzed and compared eight cases with present literature.
