SAKRAL KORDOMALARDA CERRAHİ REZEKSİYON BOYUTLARI: OLGU SUNUMU

Year 2010, Volume: 11 Issue: 2, 43 - 45, 09.11.2010

Abstract

Extent of Surgical Approach in Chordomas: A Case Report

Year 2010, Volume: 11 Issue: 2, 43 - 45, 09.11.2010

Abstract

Chordomas are rare primary malign neoplasms arised from the remnants of primitive notochord. Surgery is the basic therapeutic approach in the management of these tumors because of unresponsiveness especially to chemotherapy and relatively radiotherapy. Extent of the surgical resection has a major role in the disease-free survival in chordomas.Although there are some surgical techniques depending on the localization of the tumor, it must be planned after detailed discussion of the postoperative consequences with the patient. In this study we present a sacral chordoma case and tried to explain the extent of the surgical approach.
