Plazmositom Olgusunda “Mini Beyin” Görünümü: Bilgisayarlı Tomografi ve Manyetik Rezonans Görüntüleme Bulguları

Year 2015, Volume: 16 Issue: 2, 80 - 82, 01.08.2015

Abstract

The ‘Mini Brain’ Appearance of Plasmocytoma: Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging Findings

Year 2015, Volume: 16 Issue: 2, 80 - 82, 01.08.2015

Abstract

There are several tumoral pathologies involving the axial skeleton, particularly the vertebral body and rarely typical or pathognomonic radiographic appearance are available. “Mini brain” appearance on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), as defined in solitary plasmacytoma, is considered a rare but characteristic finding for plasmacytoma and resembles a  cross-section of the sulci of the brain. Slow-growing tumor lysis and destruction, compensatory coarsening of trabeculae and cortical thickening cause such an appearance. In the literature, mini brain appearance has been described only for solitary plasmacytoma. We present a case of solitary plasmacytoma diagnosed histopathologically and discuss the diagnosis and differential diagnosis with computed tomography (CT) and MRI findings.
