Abstract
It has been seen that the encompassing effect of mass media in individual and social fields is increasing
day by day. With this situation, every subject related to individual and social life has been started to be
used as a content in mass media. Religion, which is both a belief and lifestyle, is also one of the sensitive issues that fall under the influence of mass media. In this context, religion has been perceived as a
guaranteed content element in reaching the target audience for the media while the media has been
seen as a means of communication for religious institutions and structures. Religious practices, like
any television-adapted subject, have brought about new problems and discussions such as popularity,
mass and commercial concerns. The focal point of these questions and discussions are the religious
program formats that are adapted to the language of the media. In this study, the format structure
of the program of “Prof. Dr. Nihat Hatipoğlu ile Dosta Doğru”, which has become a popular religious
program by explaining the connection between media and religion through religious broadcasting process, has been investigated by textual analysis method. In the study, in which the form of representation in media and narration style has been conveyed, it has been concluded that a religious program has
been transferred by adapting to any program format on television.
