Aim: The research was carried out to evaluate the relationship between the mode of delivery and postpartum comfort and pain catastrophizing levels postpartum comfort and pain catastrophizing levels according to mode of delivery. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 287 postpartum mothers who gave birth in the State Hospital of a province located in the Southeast of Turkey. The data of the study were collected with the "Postpartum Introductory Information Form", "Postpartum Comfort Questionnaire (PPCQ)" and "Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS)". Descriptive statistics, chi square test, independent groups t test, Mann-Whitney U test and Pearson correlation tests were used to evaluate the data. Results: The total mean score of postpartum women who gave birth vaginally from the PPCQ was 123.37±16.75, and the total mean score of the PCS was 14.06±9.22. The total mean score of postpartum women who gave birth by cesarean section from the PPCQ was 114.40±14.51, and the total mean score of the PCS was 23.78±11.59. A statistically significant difference was determined between the delivery mode of the postpartum women and the total mean scores of the PPCQ and PCS (p<0.001). Additionally, regardless of the mode of delivery, a negative, statistically significant weak correlation was found between pain catastrophizing levels and postpartum comfort levels of postpartum women (p<0.05). Conclusion: In this research; it has been determined that postpartum comfort levels of postpartum women who gave birth vaginally were higher and their pain catastrophizing levels were lower than those who gave birth by cesarean section. Additionally, it has been found that as the level of pain catastrophizing of postpartum women increases, their postpartum comfort level decreases.
