Aim: The study aimed to determine the nutritional habits of secondary school students living in the district area and evaluate the relationship between their socio-economic characteristics and nutritional habits. Methods: The study type was descriptive. The sample group of the study consisted of 425 students. A questionnaire form consisting of three parts, which assess sociodemographic characteristics, family welfare scale and nutritional habits was used to collect data. Data were summarized as number, percentage, and average and chi-square analysis was used for comparisons. Ethical permission was obtained for the study. Results: The mean age of the students was 12.44±1.26; 50.3% were male. The proportion of students who regularly performed all three main meals without skipping was 63.8%, and it was found that the proportion of students who had balanced nutrition in all three meals was 30.3%. During school hours, students have often eaten toasts-hamburgers / sandwiches and sugary foods. When the relationship between the students' skipping and balanced nutritional status and the sociodemographic/economic characteristics were evaluated, it was found that the skipping and balanced nutritional status did not differ according to the socio-economic status. It was found that the balanced nutrition rate of students with only father education in secondary school and above (35.1%) was higher than the students with father education in primary school and below (26.7%). Conclusion: It was concluded that it is important to monitor the students, especially in terms of balanced nutrition, and provide students with the necessary facilities for balanced nutrition.
