Abstract
Politik düşünce tarihinin en önemli isimlerinden biri olan Machiavelli devletin esenliği için iktidar sahiplerinin ilk bakışta etik görünmeyen karar ve eylemlerinin bile normalleştirerek olumlar. Onun Roma tarihine bakışı da bu yöndedir. Roma’nın kurucusu ve ilk kralı olan Romulus’un kardeşini öldürerek iktidarı ele geçirmesini her kentin tek adam tarafından kurulması gerektiği düşüncesiyle olumlar. Bu makalede Machiavelli’nin Discorsi sopra la prima Deca di Tito Livio (Titus Livius’un İlk On Kitabı Üzerine Söylevler) başlıklı eserinde Romulus’u bu düşünce çerçevesinde nasıl ele alıp betimlediğini inceliyoruz.
