Overview Of Occupational Cancer

Abstract

Cancers are a heterogeneous group of diseasesin terms of signs, symptoms, prognosis, treatmentand management. Main characteristics includeuncontrolled cell proliferation and involvement ofnear and distant organs. Only 5-10% of cellularchanges leading to development of cancer couldbe explained by hereditary mechanisms and remaining large group is related to environmental factors. Of those, cancers due to occupational riskfactors are defined as occupational cancers. Percentage of occupational cancers in all cancersvaries between 3-10% according to different researches

MESLEKİ KANSERLERE GENEL BAKIŞ

Öz

Kanser, hücrelerin çeşitli nedenlerle kontrolsüz çoğalması ve komşu ya da uzak organlara yayılması ile karakterize olan; belirti ve bulgular, klinik seyir, tedavi ve yaklaşım açısından farklılık gösteren hastalıkların genel grubudur. Kansere sebep olan hücresel değişikliklerin yalnızca %5-10’u kalıtsal mekanizmalarla açıklanmakta olup kalan büyük kısmı çevresel faktörlerle ilgilidir. Çevresel etkenlerden mesleki risk faktörlerine bağlı olarak gelişen kanserler mesleki kanserler olarak adlandırılmaktadır. Farklı araştırma sonuçlarına göre mesleki kanserler, tüm kanserlerin %3-10’nu oluşturmaktadır
