CAN SOCIAL AND SOLIDARITY ECONOMY BE CONSIDERED AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO THE NEOLIBERAL MODEL AND CAPITALIST RELATIONS?

Abstract

Social and solidarity economy (SSE) refers to economic units that operate according to a set of principles different from traditional businesses. The most important of these principles is to prioritize people, society and planet instead of capital and profit. SSE consists of organizations based on democratic functioning and solidarity relations. Recently, governments and international organizations have shown special interest in SSE, on the grounds that it can help reduce poverty, create employment, and ensure local and sustainable development. SSE is also discussed through its transformative potential of the neoliberal model and capitalist relations. In this article, SSE will first be defined and its emergence will be examined. Then, it will be discussed whether SSE can be considered as an alternative to the neoliberal model and capitalist relations.

SOSYAL VE DAYANIŞMA EKONOMİSİ NEOLİBERAL MODELE VE KAPİTALİST İLİŞKİLERE BİR ALTERNATİF OLARAK DEĞERLENDİRİLEBİLİR Mİ?

Abstract

Sosyal ve dayanışma ekonomisi (SDE), geleneksel işletmelerden farklı bir dizi ilkeye göre faaliyet yürüten ekonomik birimleri işaret eder. Bu ilkelerin başında, sermaye ve kar yerine insanı, toplumu ve gezegeni öncelemek gelir. Yine SDE, demokratik işleyişe ve dayanışmacı ilişkilere dayanan organizasyonlardan oluşur. Son dönemde, hükümetlerin ve uluslararası örgütlerin, yoksulluğun azaltılması, istihdam yaratılması, yerel kalkınmanın ve sürdürülebilir gelişmenin sağlanması hedeflerine yardımcı olabileceği gerekçesiyle SDE’ye özel bir ilgi gösterdiği görülmektedir. Aynı zamanda SDE, neoliberal ekonomi modelini ve kapitalist çalışma ilişkilerini dönüştürücü potansiyeli üzerinden de tartışılmaktadır. Bu makalede, öncelikle SDE tanımlanacak ve ortaya çıkışı incelenecektir. Ardından, SDE’nin neoliberal ekonomi modeline ve kapitalist üretim ilişkilerine bir alternatif olarak değerlendirilip değerlendirilemeyeceği tartışılacaktır.
