A Different Approach to Science: Can Scientific Theories be a Work of Art?

Abstract

 

This study is interested in the basic understandings and interpretations regarding the structure of the theories which are the holders of scientific knowledge. In this context, unlike the approachments of the traditional  philosophies of sciences, the structural analysis of theories asserts that it is not monothonics and one dimensional thing but it is with the theories as well as verifiable and falsifiable testings and it is a sophisticated unity. According to this view, a scientific theory is not a homogeneous character but it is something involving very much different elements.  And therefore, in this paper, theories not only are the products of the mind with the rules and methods but also they are seen as works of art  with aesthetics values. Accordingly, when one takes into consideration the history of science, it can be seen that like the artist, men of science work with the aeesthetics concern.

Bilime Farklı Bir Yaklaşım: Bilimsel Kuramlar Bir Sanat Eseri Olabilir Mi?

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, bilimsel bilginin taşıyıcısı olan kuramların yapısına ilişkin temel anlayışlar ve yorumlardan söz edilmiştir. Bu noktada, kuramların yapısal analizi, geleneksel bilim felsefelerinin yaklaşımından farklı olarak bilimsel bir kuramın, monotonik ve tekdüzeyli olmayıp tersine başka kuramlarla ve doğrulayıcı ya da yanlışlayıcı sınanma süreçleriyle birlikte bulunan oldukça sofistike bir bütünlük arz ettiğini ileri sürer. Bu yaklaşım açısından bilimsel bir kuram, homojen bir karakterde olmayıp içinde oldukça farklı öğelerin bulunduğu bir yapıdır. İşte, bu nedenle, bu çalışmada, kuramların belirlenmiş kimi kural ve yöntemleri barındıran bir zihinsel ürün olduğu kadar aynı zamanda estetik bir değer taşıyan sanatsal bir ürün olarak da değerlendirilebilecekleri öne sürülmüştür. Öyle ki bilim tarihine bakıldığında bilim insanlarının tıpkı bir sanatçı gibi estetik bir kaygıyla hareket ettiği görülebilir.
