About the Wordbook of Accounting Main Notions

Abstract

The word muhasebe (accounting) is originally Arabic which later turned into Turkish. It is commonly used in scientific language and practices. The notions used in the science and practices of accounting also came from foreign languages. The original word for muhasebe (accounting) in Turkish is called sayışım. It is possible to determine the main notions in the science and practices of sayışım (accounting). In order to do that, it is essential to examine the deep roots of Turkish language and derive notions from the rich roots of this language. This study mainly examines the possible methods to maintain main notions. Thus, the study overviews conceptual developments in Turkey. Then, the study examines Turkish words and notions.
