MENTEŞE SANCAĞI’NDA İTALYAN VE YUNAN İŞGALLERİNE TEPKİLER

Abstract

Mondros Mütarekesi’nden sonra Anadolu’nun değişik bölgeleri Fransa, İtalya ve Yunanistan tarafından işgal edildi. İtalya’nın işgal ettiği bölge Menteşe sancağına bağlı idi. Başta Muğla olmak üzere sancak halkı, çeşitli miting ve telgraflarla İtalyan işgallerini protesto ettiler. İzmir, 15 Mayıs 1919 günü Yunan birlikleri tarafından işgal edildi. Menteşe halkı düzenlediği mitinglerle ve İtilaf Devletleri temsilcilerine gönderdiği telgraflarla işgali protesto ettiler. Menteşe halkı adına yapılan protestoların dikkate değer bir yönü, kadınların da protesto eylemlerine aktif bir şekilde katılmalarıdır.

Reactions Against Occupation of Italian and Greek in Sanjak of Menteşe

Abstract

After the Armistice of Mudros, France, Italy and Greece occupied in several parts of Anatolia. Occupied region by Italy was within the Sanjak of Menteşe. People of Sanjak of Menteşe were in protest against Italian occupations with meeting and telegraphs. On May 15, 1919, Izmir was occupied by the Greek Army. Turkish people had reactions against the occupation of Izmir. Because, they thought that this occupation was beginning of the loss of all West Anatolia. So, all people made reactions with meeting and sending telegrams to European countries. People of Menteşe had sent telegraphs to European countries in the name of protest against the occupation of Izmir by Greece. It is important that, women who lived in Muğla participated in protesting actions.
