Dostluğa ve Alçakgönüllülüğe Övgü ‘Mimarlığı Öncesiyle Kuşatmak’

Abstract

Bu metin Ziya Tanalı’ya ve onun dostluk ve alçakgönüllülükte eleyip seçtiklerini, insana ait değerlerden ödün vermeden kurduğu yapılara dönüştürdüğü yaşamına bir övgü olarak görülmeli. Yazarın hem ona hem kendine hem de etrafındakilere baktığı, bakarken de kendi konumunu ve zamanını değiştirdiği, öznellik ve nesnellik arasında gidip gelen bir “encomium” denemesi olarak okunmalı. Tanalı’nın yanında başlayan ve uzaklara gittikten sonra geçen zamanla cebine taşlar doldurup boşaltan bir adamın bugün durduğu yerde usunu kurcalayanların sunulduğu bir güncelleme olarak da kabul edilebilir. Bu güncel duraktan nelerin geçip gitmekte olduğunu, şiirden, ada düşüncesinin huzursuz bilinmezliği ve somut ile soyut arasında bir bıçak sırtında duran çekiciliğine çıkma denemesiyle başlayıp, “mimar”ı, bir “uzun mesafe koşucusu” olarak kalkıştığı işin başlangıçlarıyla kuşatmaya çalışacağım. Yapı yapma eylemi henüz on atfedilmemişken, mimar karşımıza antik Yunan trajedyasında Vitruvius’tan neredeyse yarım bin yıl önce, yiten barış ve düzeni yaşamı pahasına yeniden kurma işine soyunan bir tiyatro karakteri olarak çıkıyor. Hikayenin henüz başlarında mimarlığa, mimarlık, matematik ve felsefenin yapısal, devingen ve soyut ilişkisiyle tanımlanan öncesinden yaklaşıp, dostluk kavramı üzerinden kurulan tartışma boyunca Tanalı'yı doğrudan ve dolaylı olarak düşünmek için bir önerme sunacağım.

Encomium on Friendship and Humility ‘Embracing Architecture with its Preliminaries

Abstract

This text should be perceived as an appraisal to Ziya Tanali and his life, throughout which he transformed a carefully distilled whole with friendship and humility into erected structures without comprimising human values. It will rather be a proposal for an “encomium” with a pendelum-like layout; at one point introverted gaze, but at the same time an observation of the surroundings and Tanali within an intertwined setting at the blurred regions of subjectivity and objectivity. Who and what is to be encountered at this recent chronical of a mid-way stop? It starts off with poetry to set foot on the uneasy ambiguity, appealing inbetweenness of the abstract and tangible ‘idea’ of an island. I then approach the architect in his/her story as a “long-distance runner” with the beginnings of architecture. Not yet attributed with the burdens of building, we first encounter the architect, almost half a millenium in advance to the Vitruvian text, as a character of the ancient Greek tragedy, who dares to bring peace and order to the society even at a cost of his own life. To discuss Tanali through a direct and circuitous manner, the concept of friendship is introduced and I set to enclose architecture by rethinking its latent, fundamental, and perpetual relations with philosophy and mathematics.
