Macroeconomic Effects of Credit Guarantee Fund: The Case of Türkiye

Abstract

This study examines the importance and impact of credit guarantee systems. In the first part of the study, the concept of credit and its different elements are discussed. Types and classification of credits are emphasized, and credit types such as consumer credits, commercial credits, and financial leasing are explained in detail. In the second part, the focus is on credit guarantee systems. The concept of credit guarantee and the conditions for success of the system are discussed, and the principles and implementation processes of credit guarantee programs are explained. Credit guarantee systems from different regions are examined by giving examples in the study to analyze their historical development and applications. In the third part, the focus is on credit guarantee fund practices in Turkey. Basic information about Credit Guarantee Fund (KGF), its organizational structure, and history are explained. In addition, KGF’s provided collateral types, supported institutions, and credit products are discussed in detail. In the fourth part, which is the main focus of this thesis, the relationship between credit guarantee fund and manufacturing industry is analyzed. The effect of KGF loans on the manufacturing industry sector has been examined using an econometric model. As a result, this thesis emphasizes the importance of credit guarantee systems and analyzes the impact of Credit Guarantee Fund in Turkey.
