ULUSLARARASI KONAKLAMA İŞLETMELERİNİN MİSYON İFADESİ BİLEŞENLERİNİN İNCELENMESİ: İÇERİK ANALİZİ

Abstract

İyi tasarlanmış bir misyon ifadesinin işletme stratejisinin oluşturulması, uygulanması ve değerlendirilmesinde önemli bir rol oynadığı bilinmektedir. Bir işletmenin stratejik kimliğini dış dünyaya açan en önemli yönetim araçlarından birisi olan misyon ifadelerine yönelik turizm sektöründe yeterli sayıda akademik çalışmanın bulunmadığı görülmektedir.  Gelişmekte olan ülkemizin ekonomisinde oldukça önemli bir yere sahip olan turizm sektöründe faaliyet gösteren uluslararası konaklama işletmelerinin, stratejik yönetimde önemi vurgulanan misyon ifadelerine verdikleri önemin incelenmesi bir gereklilik olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu sebeple, araştırma bir taraftan konuyla ilgili literatürdeki eksikliğin giderilmesine katkı sağlamayı, diğer taraftan da  Türkiye’de faaliyet gösteren uluslararası zincir otellerin sahip oldukları misyon ifadelerinde yer alan bileşenlerin belirlenmesini amaçlamaktadır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre otellerin misyon ifadelerinde yaygın olarak yer verdikleri bileşenlerin; misafirler, ürün/hizmetler ve işletmenin büyümesi, gelişmesi ve karlılığı olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Yine bulgulara göre misyon ifadelerinde en az yer verilen bileşenlerin; teknoloji, işletme felsefesi ve toplumsal imaj olduğu belirlenmiştir.
