IDENTİFYİNG OF KNOWLEDGE LEVELS OF TEACHERS WORKİNG İN SPECİAL SCHOOLS AND CLASSES ABOUT TEACHİNG SOCİAL SKİLLS

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine teachers2 working in special schools and classrooms knowledge level on teaching social skills and to analyze the effects of teachers` graduate degree program on the their social skills knowledge levels. The participants of the study were consisted 160 teachers working in special schools and classrooms in Bolu and Istanbul. The data were collected through "Demographic Information Form of Teachers` and `Knowledge Test of Teaching Social Skills`". To analyze the data, descriptive statistics, and one-way analysis of variance were used. The result of descriptive statistics showed that teachersâ€a„¢ knowledge about teaching social skills and social skills techniques (modeling, rehearsal, and rewarding) is insufficient. Another important finding of this study is knowledge levels of teachers about teaching social skills did not significantly differ in terms of types of programs teachers graduated.

ÖZEL EĞİTİM OKULLARINDA VE SINIFLARINDA GÖREV YAPAN ÖĞRETMENLERİN SOSYAL BECERİ ÖĞRETİMİNE İLİŞKİN BİLGİ DÜZEYLERİ

Öz

Bu araştırmada özel eğitim okullarında ve sınıflarında çalışan öğretmenlerin sosyal beceri öğretimine ilişkin bilgi düzeylerinin belirlenmesi ve öğretmenlerin mezun oldukları lisans programının sosyal beceri öğretimine ilişkin bilgi düzeylerine etkisinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu araştırmanın çalışma grubu, Bolu ve İstanbul illerindeki özel eğitim okullarında ve özel sınıflarında görev yapan 160 öğretmenden oluşmuştur. Veriler â€Ã…“Öğretmen Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ve â€Ã…“Sosyal Beceri Öğretimi Bilgi Testi” ile toplanmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin analizi için betimsel istatistiklerden ve tek yönlü varyans analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmada yapılan betimsel analiz sonuçları, özel eğitim okullarında ve özel sınıflarında görev yapan öğretmenlerin sosyal becerilere ve sosyal beceri öğretimine (model olma, prova etme ve ödüllendirme) ilişkin bilgilerinin yetersiz olduğunu göstermiştir. Ayrıca araştırmada öğretmenlerin sosyal beceri öğretimine ilişkin bilgi düzeylerinin mezun oldukları program türüne göre değişmediği bulunmuştur.
