Design of a Microcontroller Based Dual-Channel Digital Oscilloscope

Abstract

Oscilloscopes are excellent tools for testing, debugging, and troubleshooting because they can easily display the waveforms measured if the electrical components or circuit modules are working properly. Oscilloscopes can also provide support during the design of new electronic circuits. In addition to electrical signals, other physical or chemical quantities can be measured by using different probes that have been developed into an appropriate transducer. This paper presents a signal processing application that involves the interface between analogue input and the graphical liquid crystal display (GLCD) output. The aim is to obtain a graphical representation of the waveforms utilizing a microcontroller to process measured signals and monitoring on a GLCD. The acquired analogue signals have been sampled at the rate of 100 Kbps by using 4 channels 10-bit analog to digital converter of the microcontroller in the design. The project may be improved by adding PC communication over microcontroller's ports.

Abstract

Osiloskoplar; dalga ?ekillerini görsel olarak ifade ettiklerinden dolayy test i?lemleri, hata tespiti ve sorun giderme gibi çaly?ma alanlary için çok iyi bir ölçüm aracydyr. Ayryca osiloskoplar, elektronik devrelerin tasarymy ve kontrolleri syrasynda tasarymcylara destek sa?larlar. Osiloskoplar, elektrik i?aretlerine ek olarak, uygun bir dönü?türücü olarak geli?tirilmi? farkly türdeki problaryn kullanymy ile sycaklyk, basynç, nem gibi farkly fiziksel veya kimyasal büyüklükleri de ölçebilirler. Bu çaly?mada, bir sinyal i?leme uygulamasy olarak analog giri? sinyallerinin grafik likit kristal ekranda (GLCD) görüntülenmesini sa?layan bir sayysal osiloskop tasarymy gerçekle?tirilmi?tir. Çaly?manyn amacy, ölçülen i?aretlerin bir mikrodenetleyici ile i?lenip GLCD aracyly?yyla sinyal ?ekillerinin görüntülenmesini sa?lamaktyr. Tasarymda; ölçülen analog i?aretler, mikrodenetleyici ile 4 kanal 10-bit analog-dijital dönü?türücü kullanylarak 100 Kbps hyzynda örneklenmi?tir. Bu çaly?ma, mikrodenetleyicinin giri?-çyky? portlary üzerinden bilgisayar ileti?imi eklenerek daha da geli?tirilmeye müsaittir.
