COMPARISON OF DIAGNOSTIC METHODS OF TRICHOMONIASIS

Abstract

Total of 66 women who applied to Elazig Sarahatun Women Disease and Obstetrics Hospital were participated to the study for comparison of methods including direct microscopy Giemsa staining, culture and nucleic acid hybridisation, used for his diagnosis of Trichomoniasis. The existence of T vaginalis was examined from the samples which were taken from posterior vaginal forniks during pelvic examination using four different methods. The observation of T. vaginalis using any of these methods was accepted as positive and methods performance compared. In this study, performance of Giemsa Staining and culture method were found to be similar, but the nucleic acid hybridisation method was found to be less sensitive compared to these two methods. The highest performance was obtained using these classical four methods. The easy application and quick response of nucleic acid hybridisation method in addition to determining the bacterial vaginitis agent and not require well experience may suggests its application in addition to classical methods.

Abstract

Trichomoniasis tanysynda direkt baky, Giemsa boyama, kültür ve nükleik asit hibridizasyon yöntemlerinin kyyaslanmasy amacyyla Elazy? Sarahatun Kadyn Hastalyklary ve Do?um Hastanesi'ne ba?vuran 66 hasta çaly?maya alyndy. Pelvik muayene esnasynda posterior vajinal forniksten alynan örneklere bu dört farkly yöntem uygulanarak T. vaginalis varly?y ara?tyryldy. Bu yöntemlerden herhangi birisiyle T. vaginalis saptanan olgular T. vaginalis pozitif kabul edilerek yöntemlerin performanslary kar?yla?tyryldy. Çaly?mamyzda Giemsa boyama ve kültür yöntemlerinin performanslary birbirine özde? bulunurken nükleik asit hibridizasyon yönteminin özgüllü?ü bu yöntemlere oranla daha dü?ük bulunmu?tur. En yüksek performans geleneksel yöntemlerin tümünün uygulanmasy ile alynmy?tyr. Nükleik asit hibridizasyon yönteminin daha kysa sürede sonuç vermesi, uygulamasynyn kolay olmasy, ek olarak bakteriyel vajinit etkenlerini de saptamasy ve daha az deneyim gerektirmesi gibi avantajlary dikkate alyndy?ynda geleneksel yöntemlere ek olarak kullanylabilece?i kanysyndayyz.
