Abstract

Görünüşte zararsız olmasına rağmen çocuğun doğum tarihi, sonraki gelişimi üzerinde önemli bir etkiye sahiptir. Belirli bir yılın ilk aylarında doğmuş olan ve gelişim sürecini tamamlamamış sporcuların fiziksel, bilişsel ve motorik gelişimsel düzeylerinin yılın son aylarında doğmuş sporculara oranla daha fazla gelişmiş olması ve gelişimin getirmiş olduğu avantajın olumlu etkilerine Bağıl Yaş Etkisi denilmektedir. Erken yaşta yetenekli sporcuların belirlenmesi rekabet sporlarının da önemli konularından biridir. Son zamanlarda yapılan çalışmalarda BYE’nin özellikle sporcu seçiminde belirgin bir etkisinin olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu çalışmamızın amacı BYE’nin spor üzerinde ki etkisinin ayrıntılı olarak bilinmesi ve genç yaştaki sporcuların takıma seçilmesinde ki öncelikli belirleyicilerinin tespitinin yapılmasıdır.
