Fourteen patients were given fazadinium in a dose of 1 mg/kg to evaluate the use of this fast-acting non-depolarizing muscle rela¬xant in caesarean sections and its neuro-muscular effects on both the mother and the newborn. Fazadinium was found to provide good intubating conditions and surgical relaxation. Inspite of the marked depression in the neuro-muscular transmission of the mother at the time of delivery, there was neither the clinical nor electromyographic signs of the effect of muscle relaxant in the newborn.
