SUMMARY
CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES IN DOWN SYNDROME
Twenty-two patients with cardiovascular" disease were rewiewed. All of then had applied to Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine Medical biology-Genetics department between January - April 1989 Chromosome studies were done for them with primary diagnosis of Down syndrome.
Seven of the patients were female (31.8 %) and 15 were male (68.2 %). Their ages were between 1 mounth 15 years. Cardiovascular disease were diagnosed in. 15 patients (63.6 %). Seven of them had the anomaly of Partial atrioventricular canal (AV), four had isolated VSDjOne had tetrology of Fallot, one had double outlet right ventricle with ASD and mitral valve hypoplasia. One case of cardiomyopathy and one case of pulmonary valvular stenosis were determined.
One of the patients who had congenital heart disease died before the operation.
In conclusion, we emphasized that cardiac abnormalities which are seen frequently in Down syndrome are important factors that affect the prognosis.
ÖZET
Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Tıbbi Biyoloji Anabilim Dalı Tıbbi Genetik Biriminde Ocak 1988 - Nisan 1989 tarihleri arasında Down sendromu ön tanısıyla kromozom analizi yapılan 22 hastada kardiyovasküler hastalıklar araştırıldı.
Hastaların 7si kız (% 31.8), 15 i erkek (% 68.2) olup, yaşları 1 ay - 15 yaş arasındaydı.
15 hastada (% 63.6) kardiyovasküler hastalık tesbit edildi. Bunların 7'sinde parsiyel antriyoventriküler kanal (AV), 4 ünde izole verıtriküler septal defekt, l'inde Fallot tetrolojisi, 1'inde çift çıkışlı sağ ventrikül, atriyal septal defekt mitral kapak hipoplazisi, 1 inde pulmoner stenoz ve 1 hastada ise kardiyomiyopati tesbit edildi.
Konjenital kalp hastalığı nedeniyle ameliyat kararı alınan 1 hasta ameliyat öncesi dönemde öldü.
Sonuç alarak, Down sendromunda yüksek oranda görülen kardi¬yak anomalilerin prognozu etkileyen önemli faktörlerden birisi olduğu kanısındayız.
