Background: Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever, which is encountered sporadically all over the world, occurs in all regions of our country, especially in the Eastern Black Sea, Central Anatolia and Eastern Anatolia regions, with an increase in spring months. In this study, it was aimed to measure the level of knowledge of people living in rural areas in order to guide the field trainings to be given for the prevention of the disease.
Method: The population of the descriptive study consisted of literate people aged 18 years and over living in village B in the center of province A. It was planned to reach the entire population. With the help of the data collection form prepared by the researchers, the data were collected using the face-to-face interview technique with those who agreed to participate in the study. The data were analyzed using SPSS v. 22 package program.
Results: The median age of 165 participants was 48 years (min:19-max:87) 46.7% of the participants were female (77 people) 77.0% of the participants had 8 years of education or less (127 people) All of the participants had heard of the disease before. However, it was observed that the effects of the disease on humans and animals were not fully known by the participants.
Conclusion: Although all of the people who participated in the study in rural area B of province A had heard of the disease before, they were not fully aware of its effects on humans and animals. It was observed that more education is needed to increase awareness about the disease.
