Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s foreign policy decisions have been in the agenda of the scholars in Middle East and Gulf politics since June 2017 when he was appointed as the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. Madawi Al-Rasheed, a scholar researching extensively on Saudi political history and foreign policy, provides different orientations to our perception of the current political issues, foreign policy crisis and royal family conflicts in Saudi Arabia through this edited volume. Al-Rasheed’s book is divided into three sections; ‘State and Society’, ‘Saudi Arabia and Transnational Salafiyya’, and ‘Foreign Relations’, which are contributed by various scholars specialized on Saudi politics. The bottom line of the book is the unpredictability of the evolution of Saudi decision-making process, which in turn pave the way for the ambiguous expectations from the political future and foreign policy directions of the kingdom.
