Investigation of Speed Position Rotation Turns Control with Magnetic Hall Sensor in Brushed DC Motors

Abstract

Magnetic Hall sensors are widely used in many applications today. In this study, angular position, speed, and rotation count measurements were performed using magnetic latch Hall sensors integrated into a brushed DC motor. To enhance the reliability of signals from the Hall sensors and to prevent potential noise sources, various precautions were taken to ensure that the Hall sensors meet the durability standards required in automotive applications. Experimental designs were shared, and filtering techniques were applied. The study examined different types of Hall sensors and compared two-pin and three-pin magnetic latch Hall sensors. For motor speed measurement, RPM calculations were performed using pulse data obtained from the Hall sensor, and the total number of rotations and angular position of the motor were determined by taking the gear ratio into account. This study aims to contribute to a better understanding of the use and control of magnetic hall sensors.
