Brenner
tumors are rare transitional cell tumors of the ovary. They are usually benign
tumors but rarely have borderline and malignant types. Most of the benign
Brenner tumors are small and are found incidentally. Our case was a 57 years
old woman who underwent laparotomy for ovarian cyst. On laparotomy a solid mass
was found on the left ovary. The left ovarian mass was excised and a
histopathological diagnosis of borderline (atypical proliferative) Brenner
tumor was made. In this paper, histopathological findings of this rare case are
presented and the literature is reviewed.
Brenner
tümörleri overin nadir görülen transizyonel hücreli tümörleridir. Genellikle
benign tümörlerdir ancak daha ender olarak borderline ve malign tipleri de
vardır. Benign Brenner tümörlerinin çoğu küçüktür ve rastlantısal olarak
bulunur. Olgumuz sol over kisti nedeni ile laparotomi yapılan 57 yaşında kadın
hastadır. Sol overdeki kitle eksize edildi ve histopatolojik incelemede
borderline (atipik proliferatif) Brenner tümörü tanısı konuldu. Yazımızda bu
nadir olgunun histopatolojik bulguları sunularak literatür gözden
geçirilmektedir.
