Das Pantheion von Perge

Abstract

Die Revision einer im Jahre 2016 unzureichend veröffentlichten Bauinschrift aus Perge führt zu dem Ergebnis, dass es sich bei dem betreffenden Bauwerk um ein unter den Flaviern errichtetes Pantheion handelt. Gestiftet wurde das Pantheion von C. Iulius Cornutus Bryoninus, Iulia Tertulla und Iulia Severa. Diese sind als Kinder bzw. Schwester (Iulia Severa) des C. Iulius Cornutus zu identifizieren, der unter Nero im Nordwestteil der Stadt den großen Gymnasium-Palästra-Komplex finanziert hatte. Von diesen diente Cornutus Bryoninus als erblicher Oberpriester des Pantheions. Aus der Bauinschrift lässt sich zudem ableiten, dass Cornutus Bryoninus zwei Mal als Oberpriester des Kaiserkults tätig gewesen war, wobei ihm abwechselnd Iulia Tertulla und Iulia Severa als Kaiserpriesterinnen zur Seite standen. In einem Nachtrag werden Hinweise dafür zusammengetragen, dass das Pantheion wahrscheinlich unmittelbar westlich des großen, in neronischer Zeit von C. Iulius Cornutus erneuerten Gymnasium-Palästra-Komplexes zu lokalisieren ist.

Perge Pantheion’u

Abstract

Perge kazılarında iki ana caddenin kesiştiği noktada ele geçen ve 2016 yılında eksik yayınlanan bir yapı yazıtının yeniden gözden geçirilmesiyle, söz konusu yapının Flaviuslar Dönemi’nde inşa edilmiş bir Pantheion olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Pantheion, C. Iulius Cornutus Bryoninus, Iulia Tertulla ve Iulia Severa tarafından fianse edilmiştir. Bu şahıslar kentin kuzeybatı kesiminde yer alan gymnasium-palaestra kompleksini Nero Dönemi’nde genişleten C. Iulius Cornutus’un çocukları veya kız kardeşi (Iulia Severa) olmalıdır. Bunlardan Cornutus Bryoninus, Pantheion’un hayat boyu rahibi olarak hizmet etmiştir. Yapı yazıtından, Cornutus Bryoninus’un iki defa imparatorluk kültünün baş rahibliğini yaptığı ve bu görevi dönüşümlü olarak Iulia Tertulla ve Iulia Severa ile paylaştığı anlaşılmaktadır. Makelenin ek kısmında Pantheion’un, Nero Döemin’de C. Iulius Cornutus tarafından yenilenen büyük gymnasium-palaestra kompleksinin hemen batısında yer aldığına dair veriler bir araya getirilmiştir.

The Pantheion of Perge

Abstract

The revision of an insufficiently published building inscription from Perge in 2016 leads to the result that the building in question is a Pantheion built under the Flavians. The Pantheion was donated by C. Iulius Cornutus Bryoninus, Iulia Tertulla and Iulia Severa. These can be identified as the children or sister (Iulia Severa) of C. Iulius Cornutus, who had financed gymnasium-palaestra complex under Nero in the north-western part of the city. Of these, Cornutus Bryoninus served as the hereditary high priest of the Pantheion. From the building inscription it can also be deduced that Cornutus Bryoninus was active twice as high priest of the imperial cult, with Iulia Tertulla and Iulia Severa alternating as imperial priestesses. In an addendum, indications are collected that the Pantheion is likely to be located immediately west of the large gymnasium-palaestra complex, which was renovated in the Neronian period by C. Iulius Cornutus.
