Kentsel İçsellik: Duygulanımsal Ontoloji Üzerinden İkilikleri Aşan Yeni Bir Düşünme ve Kavramlaştırma Denemesi

Abstract

İç mekânın mikro düzeydeki niteliklerinin, kentsel bağlamın makro ölçekli dinamikleriyle nasıl iç içe geçtiğini sorunsallaştıran “kentsel içsellik” (urban interiority) kavramı, iç mekâna dair tanım ve kavramları kent üzerinden yeniden düşünmeye olanak tanımaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında postyapısalcı düşünce çerçevesinde ele alınan bu kavram, maddesel/maddesel-olmayan unsurlar ile bedensel varoluşların ilişkisel ve dinamik karşılaşmalarından türeyen dolanık bir olgu olarak konumlandırılmıştır. Bu konumlandırma, içsellik olgusunun bedensel olarak algılanan, çeşitli duygulanımsal yoğunluklar üreten maddesel ve duygulanımsal izlerini takip etmek için daha kapsayıcı bir bakışın gerekliliğini açığa çıkarmıştır. Bu hedefle “Duygulanımsal Ontoloji” (Affective Ontology) adıyla geliştirilen yöntem önermesi, özne-merkezli içsellik kuramları, bunun karşısında konumlanan nesne-merkezli materyalizm ve bu iki uç arasında, madde ile her türden duygulanımsal bilgi üretiminin merkezine koyan Duygulanım Teorisi’nin (Affect Theory) arakesitinde konumlanmaktadır. Geliştirilen bu önerme, kentin somut, efemeral ve eterik bileşenlerini izleyerek mekânsal deneyimin öznel boyutlarını açığa çıkarmayı hedeflemekte ve kentin maddesel ile duygulanımsal katmanlarını birlikte ele alan dolanık bir bilgi üretim modeli sunmaktadır. Bu yöntem çerçevesinde gerçekleştirilen üç mekânsal okuma, kentsel içsellik olgusunun kent içindeki oluşum ve görünüm biçimlerini ortaya koymaktadır. Söz konusu okumalar, kentsel mekânın, maddesel unsurlar ile insanın birlikte eylemsellik ürettiği ve bu nedenle eş-aktörlü bir yapıya sahip dinamik bir oluş alanı olduğunu açığa çıkarmakta ve kentteki deneyimin çok katmanlı ve ilişkisel yapısını görünür kılmaktadır. Kentsel içsellik olgusu üzerinden kente yeni bir yöntem önermesi sunan çalışmanın, kente dair anlamlandırma pratiklerini ve bilgi üretim dinamiklerini yeniden tartışmaya açarak, bilgiyi iç-dış, nesne-özne, kamusal-özel gibi ikili düşünce yapılarının dışında yeniden üretmesi beklenmektedir.

Urban Interiority: Thinking Beyond Dualisms Through Affective Ontology

Abstract

The concept of “urban interiority,” which problematizes how the micro-level qualities of interior space intertwine with the macro-scale dynamics of the urban context, enables a reconsideration of definitions and representations of the urban through an expanded understanding of interiority. Framed by poststructuralist thought, this concept is positioned as an entangled phenomenon that emerges from relational and dynamic encounters between material and non-material elements and embodied forms of existence. Such a positioning reveals the necessity of a more comprehensive and integrated approach to trace the materially and affectively perceived imprints of interiority. In pursuit of this goal, a new methodological framework, named “Affective Ontology”, is established at the intersection of subject-centred theories of interiority, object-centred materialism, and Affect Theory. This methodological approach seeks to disclose the subjective dimensions of spatial experience by tracing the material, ephemeral, and ethereal components of urban, thereby proposing an entangled mode of knowledge production that brings together its material and affective strata. Within this framework, the three spatial readings conducted in the study elucidate the modes through which urban interiority emerges and becomes perceptible within the built environment. These readings conceptualize space as a dynamic field of becoming, in which material entities and human actors co-produce agency and operate as co-constitutive actants, rendering visible the multi-layered, relational, and processual dynamics of spatial experience. This methodological proposition seeks to critically engage with debates on urban meaning-making and knowledge production, fostering the emergence of insights that move beyond traditional binaries such as interior-exterior, subject-object, and public-private.
