Tasarımda Arte Povera Ethosu ve Örnekleri Üzerine Bir Değerlendirme

Abstract

Birçok ülkede siyasal ve toplumsal hareketler farklı dönemlerde olumsuz durumların yaşanmasına sebep olmuş, tüm bu sıkıntılı süreçler yaşamın her alanında farklı etkiler/değişimler/oluşumlar ortaya çıkarmıştır. Sanat ve tasarım alanları da bu olumsuzluklara başkaldırı niteliğinde farklı üretim değerleriyle kendisini göstermiştir. 1960’lı yılların sonuna doğru ortaya çıkan “Arte Povera” (yoksul sanat) da İtalya’da yaşanan ekonomik sorunların neticesinde bir akım olarak kendisini göstermektedir. Akımın ethosunda, sıradan, doğal, basit, yerel malzemelerin eser üretim sürecine olan katkısı yatmaktadır. Daha çok heykel, performans, enstalasyon vb. üretiminde kullanılan bu akım zamanla diğer sanatçı ve tasarımcıların da dikkatini çekmiş, farklı alanlarda farklı şekillerde eserler/ürünler/yapılar üretilmeye başlanmıştır. Özellikle “Arte Povera”ya bir atıf olarak yapı-mekân-ürün tasarımlarında oldukça etkili olan “Arquitetura Povera” (yoksul mimarlık) hareketi de kendisine yer edinmiştir. Bu çalışmada da tasarımcıların kısıtlı kaynaklarla nasıl yaratıcı çözümler geliştirdikleri, dolayısıyla “Arte Povera” ethosunun bu bağlamda nasıl bir ilham kaynağı olduğunu vurgulamak amaçlanmaktadır. Çalışmada yer alan kavramlar için nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden literatür taraması ve kavramlarla ilişkilendirilen örnekler için örnek olay (vaka) yöntemi kullanılmıştır. “Arquitetura Povera” hareketi ile modern tasarım pratiklerinde “minimalizmin”, “sürdürülebilirliğin” ve “işlevselliğin” nasıl yorumlandığını ve bu ethonun bugünün tasarım yaklaşımında da nasıl geçerliliğini koruduğunu düşündürmek açısından çalışma önem taşımaktadır.

An Evaluation of the Arte Povera Ethos and Examples in Design

Abstract

Political and social movements have caused negative situations to occur in many countries at different times, and all these troubled processes have brought about different effects in every aspect of life. The fields of art and design have also shown themselves with different production values in rebellion against these negativities. “Arte Povera” (poor art), which emerged towards the end of the 1960s, also manifested itself as a movement as a result of the economic problems experienced in Italy. The ethos of the movement is based on the contribution of ordinary, natural, simple and local materials to the production process of the work. This movement, which is mostly used in the production of sculptures, performances, installations, etc., has attracted the attention of other artists and designers over time, and different types of works/products/structures have begun to be produced in different fields. The “Arquitetura Povera” (poor architecture) movement, as a reference to “Arte Povera”, has also begun to gain ground. This study aims to highlight how designers develop creative solutions with limited resources, and thus how the “Arte Povera” ethos is a source of inspiration in this context. For the concepts included in the study, a qualitative research method, literature review, and for the examples associated with the concepts, the case study method were used. The study is important in terms of making us think about how “minimalism”, “sustainability” and “functionality” were interpreted in modern design practices with the “Arquitetura Povera” movement and how this ethos maintains its validity in today’s design approach.
