Analysis of academic studies on vertiport
Abstract
With the advancement of technology and evolving urban needs, many aircraft and automobile manufacturers, along with startups, are engaged in research and development of electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL) to enhance Urban Air Mobility (UAM). Concurrently, studies are being conducted to identify suitable areas for the takeoff and landing of aircrafts, commonly referred to as vertiports. This study aims to provide a comprehensive evaluation of existing literature on vertiports and systematically map the findings. Given the limited number of studies in Turkish literature, this work serves as a valuable resource for future researchers in the field. The analysis encompasses 107 publications from 2018 to 2024, identified using the keyword ‘vertiport’ in the Web of Science database. Utilizing the bibliometric analysis tool Biblioshiny in R Studio, it was found that the majority of studies were published in 2023, with a notable increase in publications since 2018. The leading contributor in this field is Peng Wei, with most research originating in the United States, South Korea, and Germany.
