The Relationship Between Job Satisfaction and Occupational Burnout: A Cross-Sectional Study on Aviation Industry

Abstract

Since the concepts of job satisfaction and occupational burnout are closely related to each other, many studies have been conducted on employees in different sectors. This study aims to investigate the effect of occupational burnout on job satisfaction levels of aviation sector employees. For this purpose, between July 2019 and September 2023, data were collected from 202 aviation employees determined by convenience sampling method through questionnaire forms. The data of the study were subjected to correlation and regression analyses with SPSS 22 software. The results of the study show that as depersonalization and emotional burnout, which are the sub-dimensions of occupational burnout, increase, intrinsic and extrinsic satisfaction of aviation sector employees decreases. In addition, another sub-dimension of occupational burnout, personal accomplishment, increases as intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction increases.
