Abstract
The presented article examines the form and application methods of the genre, taking into account the features of the genre of portraiture, which is widely used in various fields of art. It is known that the genre of portraiture in painting, literature and later in music is mainly related to the description of a certain image, and the article is based on this issue. Therefore, the main goal of the article is to emphasize the closeness of the genre of portraiture in the field of literature and music. The portrait genre plays an important role in the expression of the main theme of the work, in the embodiment of the world of feelings and emotions, in the comprehensive opening of any image. From this point of view, the musical portrait covers various fields, including instrumental, symphonic, vocal and stage works, and is noteworthy as an indicator of the main idea of the work.
The methodology of the article is theoretically and historically based and a detailed study of the portrait genre has been conducted in a comparative manner. Thus, for the first time, the article comprehensively explores the means of interaction of the portrait genre in literature and music. Based on this, the synthesis of literary portraits embodied in music has been studied.At the same time, the role of Western European and Russian composers in the development of the portrait genre was emphasized and a detailed analysis of examples of the portrait genre in the works of Azerbaijani composers was given. It was concluded that the literary connection between the examples of the portrait genre in Azerbaijani music is important.
