Bireyin keşfetme ihtiyacını ortaya çıkaran merak, 21. yüzyıl öğrencilerinin ihtiyaç duyacağı en önemli becerilerden biridir. Bireylerde doğuştan itibaren var olan merak, bir yandan bireyin gelişmesini özellikle de yaratıcılığının gelişmesini sağlar, bir yandan da içinde bulunulan kültürün değerlerinden etkilenir. Merak algısı üzerinde etkili olan kültür ögelerinden birisi de atasözleridir. Bu çalışmada Türk atasözlerinde merak kavramına yönelik gönderimlerin incelenmesi ve bunların kültürel bağlam açısından taşıdığı anlamların irdelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden içerik analizi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Bu kapsamda atasözlerinde merakla ilgili, olumlu, olumsuz kavramlar taranmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda meraka ilişkin olarak olumlu ve olumsuz algılar adlı temalar altında birtakım alt temalara ulaşılmıştır. Meraka olumsuz vurgu yapan atasözlerinin daha fazla olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ulaşılan sonuçlar doğrultusunda önerilerde bulunulmuştur
Curiosity, which brings out the need for discovery in individuals, is one of the most important skills that 21st-century students will need. Curiosity, which exists in individuals from birth, facilitates personal development, especially development of creativity, and at the same time is affected by the values of the culture. One of the cultural elements that are influential on the perception of curiosity is the proverbs. In this study, it is aimed to examine the references about the concept of curiosity in Turkish proverbs and to examine the implications and meanings of these in terms of cultural context. In the study, content analysis technique was used from qualitative research methods. In the study, content analysis technique was used from qualitative research methods. In this context, positive and negative concepts in proverbs related to curiosity were scanned. As a result of the study, a number of sub-themes were reached under positive and negative themes concerning curiosity. It was determined that the number of proverbs negatively emphasizing curiosity were more than positive proverbs. Recommendations were made in the direction of the results obtained
