Continuous exposure of the registered cultural assets to adverse external factors shortens the life of the
work, disrupts its authenticity and negatively affects its preservability. The active and sustained preservation
actions will affect the quality of traditional touch structure positively.
In the model proposal, protection studies are considered as four main phases: monitoring, supervision,
detection and intervention-application. A complementary protection model is envisaged.
The proposal model is based on active and continuous protection of immovable cultural assets. The main
outlet is the mobile organization, which will carry out a mobile center inspection, and maintenance work,
which is equipped with a protection center.
The fixed departments such as traditional workshops and restoration-conservation laboratories in the
model proposed in IBB, KUDEB (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Directorate for the Conservation,
Implementation and Supervision of Cultural Assets), established in 2007 and are still active.
İBB KUDEB Conservation - Restoration Laboratory has carried out technical and material analysis reports of
a large number of immovable cultural assets, both at home and abroad, through an academic board created
in its own right. The Traditional Timber Workshop has executed many repairs of civil architecture examples in
world heritage areas such as Süleymaniye, Zeyrek and old city zones like Kadirga Şehsuvar Bey Street. The
Traditional Masonry Atelier is used in the first registered group assets and restoration applications which are
mainly in the fountains.
