Three archive documents dated 1883, 1906 and 1911, which have information about the conservation problems and remedies of the facades of the Dolmabahçe Palace at the end of the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century are evaluated in this paper. In the documents, deterioration of the carved stone motives as well as the paste and oil paint which was already applied in 1883, on the stone facades was recorded. Replacement of the deteriorated stone blocks with the new stone keeping the original shape, repair of the paste and the oil paint layer, polishing of marble with sandstone/pumice or washing with soap, chiseling for the stones other than marble and use of cement or lime mortars with cement are methods and materials of repair noted in the documents.
