This study suggests that most appropriate theory to explain the Iran’s political behavior in the regional environment is Neo-realism. The reason for favoring this theory over the others is that it is more acceptable to foreign policy in general، of which continuity is one of the leading characteristics. Foreign politics of the countries in the modern world order is characterized by continuity، and the revolutions or coups in regimes، according to Neorealism، affect motivations and perceptions rather than tracks.Accordingly، this study will include a general illustration of the most important principles upon which Neo-realism was built; then، the most prominent public determining factors of Iranian foreign policy are discussed. This is followed by analyzing Iran’s politics towards the Middle East، according to historical facts extending from the final chapter of the Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi’s reign، until the reign of the current president Hassan Rowhani
