Some Arabs viewed the coup attempt in Turkey and its perpetrator, Fetullah Gülen, with little knowledge about present Turkey. This led to some Arabs hoping the coup succeeds. Gülen's appearance in many clips preaching solidarity, followed by Egypt's adoption of the rule "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" by offering to host Gülen to prevent his extradition to Turkey and the premature considerations of political, cultural and legal consequences of these actions have caused deceptive politics. Similarly, Gülen has appeared in some video clips as part of an "organizational structure" that has an idea that dates back to the last century of the Ottoman empire, when various factions worked to topple the Caliphate
