Since they were established in 1971, Turkish-Chinese diplomatic relations have witnessed many ups and downs. The two states tend to draw closer whenever Turkey’s relations with the West come under strain. Otherwise, bilateral relations tend to remain stable but not particularly warm. Although various economic and political measures have been considered with a view to enhancing ties, these have yet to be implemented
