Abstract
This article analyzes Turkey’s foreign policy during the AK Party period on the bases of three elements: state identity defined by political leadership. state-centered transnational actors and regional developments. It is assumed that these elements not only impact each other but also influence Turkey’s foreign policy. Accordingly, during this period Turkey restructured its foreign policy in alignment with its new state identity. The activities of terrorist organizations such as the PKK and FETÖ, have had an impact on this process. Lastly, the developments in the Middle East have led the AK Party to first pursue a development-oriented and later a strategicoriented foreign policy
