Abstract
The article discusses Turkish military bases in Iraq and their importance to Turkey's security. These military bases. located at several points in Iraq. primarily in Bashiqa. are essential for the security of the southern Turkish border. Turkey started to show a military presence in Iraq after the PKK found a suitable environment for stability and proliferation in the 1980s. PKK terrorist organization established several camps in northern Iraq and transferred its military and ideological activities to this region. The members of the organization moved from these camps to Turkey and carried out terrorist attacks. In respond. Turkey has built military bases in the region. and has launched operations outside its borders to counter terrorism after the developments created by the civil war that broke out in Syria in the last years
