This study explores the legal disputes concerning the islands’ issue as a result of the maritime delimitation, based on the continental shelf treaty signed between Greece and Italy in 1977, and the Treaty of the exclusive economic zone EEZs in 2020. Greece disputes with Turkey regarding its juridical approaches towards maritime delimitation in the Aegean sea since the 1960s, and in the Eastern Mediterranean in the last few years. Meanwhile, Greece signed the EEZ treaty with Italy in June 2020, regarding the zones between the two countries, announcing that it is similar to the treaty of the 24th of May 1977 which defines the continental shelf borders of both countries in the same maritime region. The previously mentioned treaties acknowledge limited authorities for some of the Greek islands. Thus, these contradictions require a study of the Greek juridical approaches in such fields, despite its scarcity
