A Reading of the Course of Relations between Hamas and Iran

Abstract

Summary This study discusses the general framework of the relationship between Hamas and Iran, which has reached the stage of strategic cooperation. The study acknowledges that the relationship is based on mutual interests. The study attempts to explain the reasons that prompted Hamas and Iran to establish close contact, and where this relationship will develop in the future. Therefore, the study, first of all, discussed the development of bilateral relations, the main breaking points in the process and the possible repercussions of the new situation after October 7, 2023. The article indicates that the significant military support provided by Iran to Hamas contributed to significantly strengthening its military wing.

قراءة في مسار العلاقات بين حماس وإيران

Abstract

تناقش هذه الدراسة الإطار العام للعلاقة بين حماس وإيران التي وصلت إلى مرحلة التعاون الإستراتيجي. تقرّ الدراسة بأن العلاقة مبنية على المصالح المتبادلة، وتحاول توضيح الأسباب التي دفعت حماس وإيران إلى إقامة اتصال وثيق، وبيان المدى الذي ستصل إليه العلاقة في المستقبل. تناقش الدراسة تطور العلاقات الثنائية، ونقاط الانهيار الرئيسة، والانعكاسات المحتملة للوضع الجديد بعد 7 أكتوبر 2023، وتشير إلى أن الدعم العسكري الكبير الذي قدمته إيران إلى حماس أسهم في تقوية جناحها العسكري بشكل كبير.
