Geopolitical Rivalry in the Strait of Malacca Between the United States and China

Abstract

This study examines the importance of the Strait of Malacca in the strategic competition between the United States and China, asking, “To what extent does this strait occupy a vital importance in the US-China competition over maritime straits?” The main problem of the study is based on the escalation of the conflict between the United States and China, as each works to build and enhance its military capabilities around the strategically important maritime straits, starting from the Bab al-Mandab Strait to the Strait of Malacca. And the research highlights how the Strait of Malacca is considered a pivotal center in this growing conflict in the context of the increasing maritime trade movement, energy supplies, and the conflict of military alliances led by the United States in the Indo-Pacific region.

التنافس الجيوسياسي فـي مضيق ملقا بين الولايات المتحدة والصين

Abstract

تتناول هذه الدراسة أهمية مضيق ملقا في التنافس الإستراتيجي بين الولايات المتحدة والصين، متسائلة "إلى أي مدى يتبوّأ هذا المضيق أهمية حيوية في التنافس الأمريكي الصيني على المضايق البحرية؟"، كما تستند الإشكالية الرئيسة للدراسة إلى تصاعد الصراع بين الولايات المتحدة والصين، حيث يعمل كل منهما على بناء قدراته العسكرية وتعزيزها حول المضايق البحرية ذات الأهمية الإستراتيجية، بدءًا من مضيق باب المندب حتى مضيق ملقا. ويسلط البحث الضوء على كيفية عدّ مضيق ملقا مركزًا محوريًّا في هذا الصراع المتنامي في سياق حركة التجارة البحرية المتزايدة، وإمدادات الطاقة، وصراع التحالفات العسكرية التي تقودها الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية في منطقة الإندو باسفيك.
