Plants Traditionally Used in the Treatment of Burns in Turkey

Year 2019, Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 15 - 35, 01.02.2019

Abstract

Burn is a serious and painful injury, which can be fatal. First aid to burn and its care is of most significance. Plants that are among the many different methods used in the treatment of burn throughout the ages are still being used by people. In this study, Turkey ethnobotanical researches have been examined and found ninety-seven species of plants that people use for burn healing. Researches on burn and wound healing activity of these plants or supportive healing process with pharmacological and biological activities were compiled. There are studies showing that burn healing activities are increased by enhancing wound contraction, cell proliferation, microcirculation and perfusion by demonstrating antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antinociceptive, analgesic, and astringent activity of phytochemicals in species especially Hypericum perforatum, Sesamum indicum, Brassica oleracea, Plantago major, Sambucus nigra, Aloe vera. The obtained data indicate that these plants are considered effective in the treatment of burns

Türkiye’de Yanık Tedavisinde Geleneksel Olarak Kullanılan Bitkiler

Year 2019, Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 15 - 35, 01.02.2019

Abstract

Özellikle Hypericum perforatum, Sesamum indicum, Brassica oleracea, Plantago major, Sambucus nigra, Aloe vera gibi bazı türlerin içerdikleri fitokimyasallar sebebiyle antimikrobiyal, antienflamatuvar, antioksidan, antinosiseptif, analjezik, astrenjan aktivite göstermek suretiyle yara kontraksiyonu, hücre proliferasyonu, mikrosirkülasyon ve perfüzyonu arttırarak belirgin yanık iyileştirici aktivitelerinin ortaya konulduğu çalışmalar mevcuttur. Elde edilen veriler, bu bitkilerin yanık tedavisinde etkili kabul edildiklerini göstermektedir.
