Research Article
Studies in Economics and Political Sciences aims to encourage academic studies in various disciplines of the social sciences—primarily in the fields of economics, political science, public administration, and international relations—contribute to the relevant literature, and serve as a high-quality academic platform where scientific and critical studies are published.
Studies in Economics and Political Sciences is a scientific journal published electronically by the Akçakoca Bey Faculty of Political Sciences at Duzce University. In addition to original theoretical and analytical studies, the journal also publishes book reviews.
The journal is published twice a year, in May and November.
The journal operates a double-blind peer review process and accepts articles in Turkish or English from the relevant fields.
- The publication languages of the Studies in Economics and Political Sciences journal are Turkish and English.
- Accepted articles must be formatted by the author(s) in accordance with the format specified below.
- The electronic copy of the study must be written in Microsoft Word using the “Bookman Old Style” font. The main text should be in 11-point font; abstracts and footnotes in 9-point font; and titles and sources of graphs, figures, and tables in 10-point font.
- The article title should be written in 14-point font, bold, and left-aligned in the language of the article, with the first letter of each word capitalized. If the article is in Turkish, the English title should be added below the Turkish title in 12-point font, italic, and left-aligned.
- The submitted article should contain a minimum of 4,000 and a maximum of 12,000 words (excluding references). The line spacing should be 1.0.
- Page layout: The page size should be A4 (21 × 29.7 cm). The text should be arranged in a columns and justified on both sides.
- Page margins should be set to narrow (top: 1.27 cm; bottom: 1.27 cm; left: 1.27 cm; right: 1.27 cm).
- Turkish submissions must include both Turkish and English abstracts. For English articles, a Turkish abstract is not required. The abstract should be at least 150 and at most 250 words. Keywords (maximum of 5) should be listed below the abstract. JEL codes may also be used if preferred. The abstract, keywords, and JEL codes should be written in Bookman Old Style, 9-point font. The abstract text should be italicized.
- First-level headings in the text should be written in 12-point bold; second-level headings in 11-point bold; and third-level headings in 11-point italic, with the first letter of each word capitalized. Headings should be numbered as 1., 1.1., 1.1.2.
- An 8 pt space should be left after each paragraph in the text. Paragraphs should start left-aligned.
- Tables and figures used in the text should be numbered together with their titles. Titles should appear above the tables and figures as “Table 1. Table Title” and “Figure 1. Figure Title.” The source should be indicated directly below the table or figure title. Relevant tables and figures should be referenced within the text.
- The in-text citation method using parentheses should be used when indicating references. The reference list should be prepared in accordance with the 6th edition of the APA style. For the reference formatting style, please refer to the sample article template.
- Correspondence regarding submitted articles will be conducted with the first author.
- Article submissions must be made online via the “Submit Article” option on DergiPark.
- Articles must be submitted together with the “Copyright Agreement Form.”
- All responsibility for the publications in the journal belongs to the author(s).
- Authors may be requested to make revisions to their studies through referee reports and the editorial board.
- More than one study by the same author will not be published in the same issue.
- If artificial intelligence tools have been used in the study, this must be declared. For detailed information on artificial intelligence and scientific ethics, please review the journal’s ethical principles.

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
- Studies in Economics and Political Sciences pays the utmost attention to publication ethics standards. The journal has adopted the ethical publishing principles published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), and ULAKBİM. Works submitted to the journal are expected to be original studies.
- Manuscripts submitted to the journal must not have been previously published in another venue and must not have been submitted to another journal for publication. Each article undergoes a double-blind peer review process conducted by one of the editors and at least two reviewers.
Plagiarism, fake authorship/denied authorship, research/data fabrication, production of fabricated data/results, salami slicing, segmented publication, submitting the same publication to multiple venues, copyright infringement, and concealment of conflicts of interest are considered unethical behaviors. In the event that the author(s) identify an error or inaccuracy in their published work, early view publication, or work under evaluation, they are responsible for cooperating with the editor in the correction or retraction process. All articles that do not comply with accepted ethical standards are removed from publication. This also includes articles containing potential violations or irregularities identified after publication.
Research Ethics
Our journal follows the highest standards in research ethics. The international research ethics principles defined below have been adopted. Compliance of articles with ethical rules is the responsibility of the authors. In the design of the research, the review of the design, and the conduct of the research, the principles of integrity, quality, and transparency must be ensured. The research team and participants must be fully informed about the purpose of the research, its methods, the possible intended uses, the requirements of participation, and any potential risks. The confidentiality of the information provided by research participants and the privacy of respondents must be ensured. The research must be designed in a way that protects the autonomy and dignity of the participants. Research participants must take part in the study voluntarily and must not be subjected to any coercion. Harm to participants must be avoided. The research must be planned in such a way that participants are not exposed to risk. Transparency regarding the independence of the research must be ensured, and any conflicts of interest must be declared.
In experimental studies, written informed consent must be obtained from participants who decide to take part in the research. Consent must also be obtained from the legal guardians of children, individuals under guardianship, or those with certified mental illness. If the research is to be conducted within any institution or organization, approval must be obtained from that institution or organization for the conduct of the study. In studies involving human participants, it must be stated in the “method” section that “informed consent” was obtained from the participants and that ethical committee approval was received from the institution where the study was conducted.

The author(s) accept the following:
- That the submitted article is the original work of the author(s) and that no plagiarism has been committed,
- That all authors have substantially contributed to the study and assume full responsibility for it,
- That all authors have seen and approved the final version of the submitted manuscript,
- That the article has not been published elsewhere and has not been submitted for publication to another venue,
- That the text, figures, and documents contained in the article do not violate the copyrights of other individuals.
- The author(s) grant permission to DÜZCE UNIVERSITY to publish this intellectual work under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License.
- The copyright of all studies accepted for publication in Studies in Economics and Political Sciences following the peer-review process belongs to the author(s).
- The author(s) must also upload the signed Copyright Form to the JEP system together with their manuscript. With this agreement, the authors declare that they transfer the right to make editorial corrections in the published article to JEP.
- Within the framework of these rules, all responsibility for the studies submitted to Studies in Economics and Political Sciences belongs to the author(s).
- No copyright fee is paid for published articles.
Protection of Personal Data
Editors are responsible for protecting the personal data of authors, reviewers, and readers. In addition, editors are responsible for ensuring the protection of personal data related to participants or images included in the studies evaluated in the Studies in Economics and Political Sciences journal. If the submitted studies to the Studies in Economics and Political Sciences journal do not include an explicit consent document from the individuals whose data are used, the editors are obliged to reject the study.
