İnsani Gelişme ve Ekonomik Büyüme İlişkisi: Türkiye Üzerine Ampirik Bir Çalışma

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye’de insani gelişme ve ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişkinin 1990-2017 dönemi için ampirik olarak incelenmesidir. Bu kapsamda, insani gelişme ve ekonomik büyüme arasındaki nedensellik ilişkisi Hacker ve Hatemi-J (2006) bootstrap nedensellik testi ve bu değişkenler arasındaki uzun dönemli ilişki ARDL eşbütünleşme, DOLS ve FMOLS yöntemleri ile araştırılmıştır. Çalışmadan elde edilen bulgular, insani gelişme ve ekonomik büyüme arasında çift yönlü bir nedensellik ilişkisinin olduğunu ve bu değişkenlerin uzun dönemde birlikte hareket ettiklerini göstermektedir. Uzun dönemdeki ilişkinin büyüklüğü incelendiğinde ise, insani gelişme endeksinde meydana gelecek 0.01 birimlik bir artışın ekonomik büyümeyi yaklaşık olarak %0.05 arttıracağı sonucu ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu sonuca göre, insani gelişmeyi arttırmaya yönelik politikanın ekonomik büyüme üzerinde olumlu etkileri olacaktır.

Relationship Between Human Development and Economic Growth: An Empirical Study on Turkey

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between human development and economic growth in Turkey empirically for the period 1990-2017. In this context, the causality relationship between human development and economic growth was investigated by Hacker and Hatemi-J (2006) bootstrap causality test and the long-term relationship between these variables with ARDL cointegration, DOLS and FMOLS methods. The findings from the study show that there is a bi-directional causality relationship between human development and economic growth and that these variables act together over the long term. When the size of the long-term relationship is examined, the result is that a 0.01 unit increase in the Human Development Index will increase economic growth by about 0.05%. According to this conclusion, the policy towards increasing human development will have positive effects on economic growth.
