Abstract

Abstract
Using energy efficiently, productively and environmentally-friendly has gained importance to achieve sustainable development goals. This study tries to determine the relationship between renewable energy consumption and economic development for BRICS countries and Turkey in the period of 2000-2013. In this context, firstly cross section dependency and homogeneity tests were applied for the panel. The existence of co-integration relationship was examined by using Pedroni 1999 , Westerlund 2005 Panel CUSUM coinregration test and long-run coefficients were obtained from Panel ARDL estimator. Empirical results imply that there is a positive long run relationship between renewable energy consumption and economic development
